A Little Bit of History
Worthington High School was renamed to Thomas Worthington High School in 1991 when the new Worthington Kilbourne High School was opened.
So ... who was Thomas Worthington? He was Governor Thomas Worthington, the reigning honcho of the State of Ohio from 1814 to 1818.

School History in a Nutshell
1874
A new Worthington School is built on the site of former Worthington College to serve as a model school for training teachers from Ohio Central Normal School. By 1879, it offers Worthington's first public high school as well as elementary classes.
1879
The first graduation of seniors.
1916
A new high school designed by Columbus architect Frank Packard is built on the school farm lot. (Editor's note - I assume that this is the former junior high building.)
1938
Worthington Junior High School, the town's first intermediate school, opens in a "colonial style" building at 50 E. Granville Road.
1952
New Worthington High School (now the central portion of Thomas Worthington High School) is built on original school farm to accommodate rapid growth after World War II.
1959
The best class ever to graduate from Worthington High School is also the eightieth graduation!
